Triptych: The Cost of Building My Dream Restaurant. #3 - Resilience.
«A restaurant, once a place of joy and celebration, now reflected the opposite - sadness, emptiness, and disappointment.»

Hello, reader. The previous chapters describing my adventures with the lifelong project stopped in 2019. Don't be surprised that I haven't written a line about the problems that have befallen everyone involved in our business this year. Another lyrical digression is necessary to understand the context of the final chapter of this article. I live and work in a quite unique country called Belarus, and my project is located in its capital. This might not mean much to many of you, but if you're interested, a quick glance at the headlines on the first page of search results will give you an idea of what this country is like. So, the spring of 2020 - Covid-19 - stress test #1. Out of 20 people in the company, only 5 remained. Hope for state support in our country wasn't anticipated, so after honestly explaining the uncertain future to the staff, the problem resolved itself - 70% weren't willing to embark on this journey of uncertainty with us and left.

We worked daily, delivering food to homes, luckily having built up a customer base and reputation. We fed healthcare workers. Essentially, we earned whatever we could. By the way, all commitments to the employees were fully met. By the summer of 2020, we managed to bounce back - regaining lost ground and the company's viability. Autumn 2020 - Revolution - stress test #2. As soon as the leaves started falling and autumn of 2020 began, society was full of heroism, potential, apathy, and emotional instability. Coincidentally, our street had a high concentration of offices for law enforcement agencies. During lunchtime, you could observe how leaders of the opposition who had just been released from custody were replaced by the heads of security agencies. Business kept going despite everything until the scales tipped, leading to a long and deep decline that continues to this day.

Spring of 2021 was equally pessimistic, marked by Omicron and the same emptiness in restaurants, but the summer was slightly more active. Afterward, realizing that the business was declining, we decided to stay in the country and create a new concept - a modern cafeteria - but that's a different story for another publication. Everything ended with the sale of the new project, after a year of operating in a depressed market and at a very low price.
2022 went by with an air of negative stability, and the summer of 2023 revealed that things wouldn't get better and it was time to stop spinning in circles. The decision to sell and relocate was made and is currently being executed. I hope I can tell you about it very soon.
Thanks for my beautiful life. To my parents and brother, beloved spouse and children, to Sergey Zablotsky, Sergey Khomchanovsky, Olga and Louise, and to everyone who was and will be by my side.
